Natural Disasters Cause Economic Losses in China in the First Half of 2026

BEIJING — According to an official from the emergency response ministry, natural disasters in China during the first half of 2026 have led to direct economic losses amounting to 54.11 billion yuan (S$9.66 billion). The announcement was made on Tuesday (July 15).
The disasters resulted in a total of 307 people confirmed dead or missing, and 2.18 million hectares of crops were damaged, as reported in a press conference.
